2015
2015 - December
Lac du Der
During the fall migration (November-December), this is the best place to see Common cranes (Grus grus).
I arrived at 7 am at the Lac du Der. The colors were great before the sunrise.
The cranes fly to their diurnal feeding sites, during the sunrise.
Then I went on a short walk to Etang des Landres, observing the black-and-white woodpeckers tryptic (Great spotted woodpecker - Dendrocopos major, Middle spotted woodpecker - Dendrocopos medius, Lesser spotted woodpecker - Dendrocopos minor) and hearing dozens of gun shots in less than one hour.
The European robins (Erithacus rubecula) where particularly tame.
2015 - August
The praying mantis.
2015 - July
Réserve zoologique d'Emancé
The park is known for its red-necked wallaby (Macropus rufogriseus) colony. The feral population in the forests nearby originally escaped from here.
It used to have a few exotic birds, but this part is now closed to the public. Of interest are still the two pairs of Siberian crane (Grus leucogeranus).
